- Second Batch Training for Field Trainers Scheduled from November 16 to 19
- Fieldwork for the Census in the State to Take Place from January 25 to February 28, 2027
The first phase of India’s Census 2027—comprising house listing and the enumeration of houses—was successfully completed in Chhattisgarh between May 01 and May 30, 2026. Preparations for the second phase have now been intensified. Fieldwork for this phase will be conducted across the state from January 25 to February 28, 2027. During this period, enumerators will visit households to record the details of every family member.
A trained and skilled workforce is essential for the success of a large-scale national undertaking like the Census. In the second phase, approximately 66,000 enumerators and supervisors will be deployed for fieldwork across the state. To facilitate their training, 1,120 field trainers have been nominated by the districts. A total of 60 master trainers—comprising 47 from the districts and 13 from the Directorate of Census Operations—have been designated to train these field trainers.
In accordance with the directives of the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India (New Delhi), and under the guidance of the Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh, as well as the instructions of Smt. Niharika Barik (Principal Secretary and State Nodal Officer for the Census/Home Department) and Shri Kartikeya Goyal (Director of the Directorate of Census Operations, Chhattisgarh), the state-level training for master trainers is being held at the Administrative Academy in Naya Raipur Atal Nagar.

The training is being conducted in two batches. The four-day training for the first batch commenced on November 02 and concluded successfully on November 05. The training was imparted by Shri Ashok Mishra and Shri Pradeep Kumar Sao—both Joint Directors—who were designated as national trainers for Chhattisgarh. The first batch included master trainers from 16 districts: Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Koriya, Surajpur, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Surguja, Jashpur, Raigarh, Korba, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Mungeli, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Sakti, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara, and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai. During the training, participants were briefed on various topics, including the procedures for the second phase of the census, the questionnaire, technical nuances of enumeration, the use of mobile applications, data compilation, and quality assurance. Through practical training, they were prepared to subsequently provide effective, high-quality training to field trainers.
- Second Batch of the Training Series: November 16–19, 2026
The second batch of the training series will be held from November 16 to 19, 2026, at the Administration Academy in Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar. This batch will also be trained by the two national-level trainers. Following their training, the master trainers will train field trainers at the district level. Subsequently, these field trainers will train the enumerators and supervisors. Through this multi-tiered system, all census personnel in the state will be prepared for the second phase.
The second phase of Census 2027 is a significant national responsibility aimed at ensuring that every individual in the state is counted. At every level of training, special emphasis is being placed on technical proficiency, accuracy, timeliness, and accountability, ensuring that the census process in Chhattisgarh is conducted in an organized and error-free manner.
