45 couples tie the knot in Raigarh under this scheme

A total of 45 couples tied the knot under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana in Raigarh district on Tuesday. The main objective of the scheme is to alleviate the financial difficulties faced by poor families, prevent wasteful expenditure on weddings, and improve social status by organizing mass marriages. An amount of Rs 35,000 was transferred to the bank account of each couple in the name of the bride by the government. Bags, makeup items, clothes, and other gifts were given to the bride and groom, along with marriage certificates.

Among the beneficiaries, Smt. Devanti Sidar, a resident of Gopalpur, Boirdadar, and Smt. Bharti, a resident of Bhagwanpur, shared that they got married on July 16 under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. They were registered through an Anganwadi worker and benefited from the scheme. They mentioned that due to poverty, it was a huge challenge for their families to arrange the marriage, but the scheme helped solve this problem easily. They thanked Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, stating that the scheme has reduced the financial burden on their parents and enabled them to have the wedding they wanted.

Chhattisgarh government is running many schemes for women, including Mahtari Vandan Yojana and Mahtari Jatan Yojana. Among these is the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, which provides assistance to financially weak families for the marriage of their daughters. The scheme significantly reduces the financial burden on parents, helping families with limited financial resources marry off their daughters. Parents of daughters often start worrying as soon as their daughters reach marriageable age. It is every parent’s dream to have a grand wedding for their daughter, but financial constraints often hinder this dream. In such situations, the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana proves to be a boon, alleviating the financial burden on thousands of families and easing their worries.
