- Instructions given to improve basic facilities
Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thackeray Journalism and Mass Communication University, Shri Mahadev Kavre conducted a surprise inspection of the university campus today. During the inspection, he took stock of the boys and girls hostels, mess, canteen, residential complex, guest house and auditorium under construction.
Vice Chancellor Shri Kavre gave instructions to improve the basic facilities in the hostels and get the necessary repair work done immediately. He asked to give a modern look to the hostel buildings as per the guidelines of UGC and the government, to develop recreation hall and systematic guest room facilities for the parents. He also gave instructions to increase additional seats in the hostels and expand sports facilities. Regarding sports infrastructure, the Vice Chancellor talked about repairing the flooring of the badminton court, marking space for volleyball, lawn tennis and basketball courts and developing an open gym in the garden area. He also gave instructions to clean the playground and develop other necessary sports facilities with the cooperation of the sports department.
During the inspection, the Vice Chancellor directed the concerned officials to repair or write off the old and dilapidated furniture and equipment present in the campus and to adopt the purchase process as per rules for fulfilling the resources. He also directed the hostel in-charges to run cleanliness and environmental awareness campaigns. For the greenery and beautification of the campus, the Vice Chancellor talked about taking help of the teachers and students of the Architecture Department of NIT Raipur, as well as getting cooperation from organizations like Chhattisgarh Horticulture Society, Prakriti Ki Or. He directed to prepare an early estimate of the necessary civil work in the residential complex and to arrange and start the guest house soon.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Shri Kavre also inspected the auditorium under construction and directed the PWD officials to complete the incomplete work soon. It has been decided to get all the maintenance work of the university campus done through PWD. During the inspection, PWD Executive Engineer Shri Abhinav Srivastava, Registrar Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma and other university officials were present.
