The corporation’s strong initiative regarding the Clean Raigarh Campaign is being lauded for its public support

Nighttime door-to-door garbage collection in the city’s commercial areas is being praised

The Raigarh Municipal Corporation is running an intensive cleanliness campaign to make the city clean, beautiful, and garbage-free. Under this campaign, Swachhata Didi’s are visiting homes and shops to educate citizens about segregating wet and dry waste. Citizens are being urged to deliver garbage only to municipal vehicles at the designated time and not to throw it on the roads, drains, or public spaces. In the city’s commercial areas, after shops closed, businesses would dump garbage on intersections and roads. This would result in garbage being found scattered in the mornings, raising questions about the city’s sanitation system and also making passersby unhappy. To curb this, nighttime garbage collection is being carried out on three separate routes in the city’s designated commercial areas.

The Municipal Corporation is conducting door-to-door garbage collection from 8 pm to 10 pm on the city’s main roads and busy areas using autos and mini-tippers. Route number one collects garbage via Shaheed Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Gaddi Chowk, Handi Chowk, Ramlila Maidan, Kevdabari Bus Stand, Lal Tanki, and the Municipal Corporation office. Similarly, route number two includes the Municipal Corporation office, Subhash Chowk, Beti Bachao Chowk, Satiguri Chowk, Dashrath Paan Thela, Natwar School and Market, Shyam Talkies, Ambedkar Chowk, Alok (City Mall), Maldhakka Road, and then back to the Municipal Corporation office. The third route includes the Municipal Corporation office, Kanha Hospital, Kabir Chowk, FCI, and then back to the Municipal Corporation office. Garbage collection is being carried out at night from shops, carts, stalls, and commercial establishments. As soon as the vehicles leave, the song “Gadi wala aaya ghar se kachra nikal” (Gari wala aaya ghar se kachra nikal) is played from the loudspeakers, and employees of commercial establishments are listening to it, loading the vehicles with garbage. Consequently, garbage is now absent on the roads and main intersections in the morning. Businesses and residents are appreciating this initiative of the municipal administration.Strictness on Plastic Use in ShopsSwachhata Didi and Center Supervisors are visiting shops to inform them about the complete ban on single-use plastic. Information regarding this is being pasted in shops, advising merchants to refrain from using plastic, keep garbage separate, and adhere to hygiene rules. Similarly, Swachhata Didi are also distributing pamphlets door-to-door in all wards, informing them about the legal action taken in case of violations.
