An exemplary initiative was witnessed today at the Raigarh Municipal Corporation with the aim of strengthening citizen participation in the city’s development and accelerating revenue collection. Municipal Commissioner Mr. Brijesh Singh Kshatriya set an example of a responsible citizen by paying his own integrated tax, including user charges, through online means.
Commissioner Mr. Kshatriya said that tax collection is extremely essential for the continuous development of sanitation, drinking water, roads, lighting, beautification and other basic facilities in the city by the Municipal Corporation. Timely tax collection gives further impetus to development works and enables effective implementation of schemes. This also saves citizens from additional surcharges and related financial losses. Similarly, they also get the benefit of a discount as per rules on paying all taxes at the beginning of the year. He appealed to the city residents to compulsorily pay their property tax, user charges and other payable taxes within the stipulated time limit. Similarly, he instructed the officers and employees of the revenue department engaged in tax collection work to show proactiveness in their work, create awareness among citizens about timely tax payment and motivate them to pay online. The Commissioner also informed that the Municipal Corporation has provided the facility of online tax payment, through which citizens can easily pay their taxes from the comfort of their homes. This will save time and maintain transparency. The Municipal Corporation administration expressed confidence that this initiative taken by the Commissioner will inspire the city residents to pay taxes on time and will make a significant contribution towards making Raigarh a clean, beautiful and developed city.

Appeal also made to officers and employees to pay user charges and taxes
All officers and employees residing in government quarters in the municipal area are also required to pay integrated tax, water tax and user charges. On this, Commissioner Mr. Kshatriya appealed to all officers and employees of the municipal area who live in government accommodation to also pay integrated tax, water tax and all other taxes, including user charges, on time.

The Municipal Corporation has launched its own app called Johar Raigarh. Anyone can download this app on their mobile phone from the Play Store. Through this app, residents can avail themselves of various services from the comfort of their homes, including paying all types of taxes and user charges, obtaining birth and death certificates, applying for water connections, booking online for box cricket and badminton, and filing complaints related to electricity, water, sanitation, and encroachment, among others.
