Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the country is progressing under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Under his guidance, Ujjain has been transformed into a hub of global spiritual tourism through the Mahakal Loka (City of the Deity) temple. With the blessings of the Mokshadayini Shipra Maiya, Ujjain is now preparing for Simhastha 2028. With the blessings of Lord Mahakal, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hariyakhedi Water Augmentation Project, being constructed at a cost of ₹1133.67 crore for Simhastha preparations, is taking place. This project will provide pure drinking water to devotees and citizens during Simhastha 2028, ensuring long-term water supply to every household in the city. Ujjain’s management of Simhastha will bring pride to the entire state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a program organized to mark the groundbreaking ceremony of the Water Augmentation Project in Ujjain’s Hariyakhedi village. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for 11 development works worth approximately ₹47.23 crore.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, while paying homage to Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay on his death anniversary, said that by following the path of Antyodaya shown by him, our government is engaged in the welfare of the poorest of the poor. Project Sanvardhan is being started in Ujjain district with the aim of strengthening maternal and child health. To encourage meritorious students, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has organized symbolic activities like their felicitation and distribution of kits to sanitation workers. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Dhanvantari Institute of Ayurveda will be opened in Ujjain. A big gift for the study and treatment of Ayurveda is going to be received very soon through Prime Minister Shri Modi.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state government is developing all the places associated with Lord Krishna as pilgrimage sites. The government has set an ideal example by banning liquor in Ujjain, Orchha and other religious places of the state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that employment-based industries are being encouraged to provide employment to the youth and sisters of the state. The sisters will get an opportunity to work when a readymade garment unit starts near Ujjain. He said that Akashvani Ujjain broadcast the programs of Baba Mahakal. It is a matter of happiness that the youth of Ujjain are showcasing their talent through Akashvani. News related to Simhastha will also reach the people through Akashvani.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that devotees from all over the world will come to Ujjain during Simhastha 2028. The state government is completing all preparations for this in a timely manner. Ujjain is the city of Baba Mahakal and Emperor Vikramaditya. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, development work is underway to provide all basic amenities. Five crore devotees attending Simhastha will be able to bathe on the banks of the Kshipra River. A small and a large bridge are being constructed near Ramghat. He said that the grand Geeta Bhawan will be inaugurated in Ujjain next month, March. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Ujjain-Indore four-lane road will also take place soon. Ujjain will also be part of the metropolitan city. All these works will prove to be milestones in the city’s development.
At a program chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, it was announced that the Hariyakhedi project will be completed in 24 months. Two new intake wells are being constructed at Hariyakhedi and Gambhir. New water treatment plants and 17 new overhead tanks will be built. A new distribution network of 708 km of pipelines will be developed under the scheme, and old ACP pipelines will be replaced. The project will provide 49,087 new domestic water service connections. Under the Hariyakhedi Water Augmentation Project, Silarkhedi, Gambhir, Undasa, and Sahibkhedi will be used as the main water sources, ensuring uninterrupted water supply during and after Simhastha. During Simhastha 2028, the effective population of Ujjain city is estimated to be approximately 9.65 lakh, and the temporary population of the fair area is estimated to be approximately 21.83 lakh. Approximately 22.8 million devotees are expected to arrive on a single day during the divine royal bathing days. About 20 villages located near Ujjain have also been included in the scheme.
MLA Shri Anil Jain Kaluhera said that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav is committed to the development of Ujjain and the entire state. In view of Simhastha 2028, all basic amenities, including roads, sewerage, and clean drinking water, are being developed in the city of Mahakal. The poor in the state are receiving permanent houses. Youth are being provided employment, and an amount of Rs. 1,500 is being sent to the bank accounts of Ladli sisters every month. Former minister Shri Paras Jain, Ujjain Mayor Shri Mukesh Tatwal, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Smt. Kalavati Yadav, along with several public representatives and a large number of local people were present at the event.
