Film production in Chhattisgarh will get a new direction

  • Important meeting for the formation of script committee, emphasis on coordination of art, culture and cinema

An important meeting was held at the Directorate of Culture and Official Languages, chaired by Ms. Mona Sen, Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation, to form a script committee. This meeting is being seen as a significant initiative towards strengthening the quality of film production in the state and giving wider recognition to Chhattisgarh’s rich artistic and cultural heritage through cinema.
Mr. Vivek Acharya, Director of the Culture Department, emphasized the need for better coordination between cinema and culture. Experts from various prestigious institutions and fields participated and shared their valuable suggestions.

Present at the meeting were Prof. Dr. Rajan Yadav, Dean of Indira Kala Evam Sangeet University, Khairagarh; Mr. Abhimanyu Sinha, Photo Officer of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Padmashree Dr. Radheshyam Tarak of Prasar Bharati Akashvani Raipur; and Mr. P.K. Pathak, Program Officer of Prasar Bharati Doordarshan Raipur. Film actor Mr. Bhagwan Tiwari from Mumbai also participated as a special invitee, highlighting the practical aspects and possibilities of filmmaking. Deputy Director Mr. Umesh Mishra, acting as Member Secretary, played a coordinating role in the meeting.
During the meeting, the framework, methodology, and selection process for the formation of the Script Committee were discussed in detail. The committee’s objective is to encourage strong and quality scripts based on Chhattisgarh’s folklore, historical events, people’s lives, and traditions, so that films based on local themes can gain national and international recognition.
Chairperson Ms. Mona Sen expressed her views, emphasizing that Chhattisgarh has immense creative potential, which can be provided a powerful platform through cinema. She stated that the formation of the Script Committee will encourage local talent and lay a strong foundation for film production in the state. Experts also welcomed this initiative and suggested developing a holistic film ecosystem by involving local artists, writers, and technical experts. Emphasis was also placed on powerfully presenting Chhattisgarh’s folk culture, traditions, and life through the medium of film.
This meeting will provide a new impetus to the state’s art, culture, and cinema. The formation of the Script Committee is expected to provide a new impetus to the Chhattisgarh film industry in the future, further establishing the state’s cultural identity.
