Make people job creators instead of job seekers – Union Minister Shri Onrao

  • Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram calls NSTFDC a catalyst for tribal entrepreneurship

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram has highlighted the transformative role played by the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) in empowering the Scheduled Tribe communities across the country. He said that the vision of NSTFDC is not limited to employment generation alone but aims to promote entrepreneurship and enable individuals to become job creators rather than job seekers. Addressing the 25th Foundation Day of NSTFDC on 10th April 2026 in New Delhi, Shri Oram described the Corporation as a catalyst for tribal entrepreneurship.

           Union Tribal Minister Shri Jual Oram welcomed selected beneficiaries from Chhattisgarh, Kishan Dhruv of village Kuan (grocery business) and Dhanraj Thakur of village Gatapar (photo studio business) from district Bemetara, along with representative (Executive Officer) of Chhattisgarh State Self-Employed Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation Praveen Kumar Lata and appreciated their efforts in running business activities under the (NSTFDC) Term Loan Scheme. The Minister honored the beneficiaries by giving them certificates and mementos.

           Emphasizing its people-centric approach, Mr. Oraon underlined the Corporation’s main objective of providing collateral-free financial assistance, thereby widening its reach to tribal beneficiaries. Speaking to the media, Mr. Oraon said that the Corporation has disbursed over 16 lakh loans to beneficiaries and the total disbursement till date has exceeded Rs. 4,000 crore.

        The National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC), under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, celebrated its 25th Foundation Day at the World Youth Centre in New Delhi. The event was attended by Smt. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Shri Anant Prakash Pandey, Joint Secretary, Shri T. Raumuan Paite, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), NSTFDC, Shri Vikas Ranjan, Manager and Head, Central Region, NSTFDC, as well as former CMDs of the Corporation and representatives from State Channelising Agencies across the country.
