- Advanced breed cows being produced at home through artificial insemination technology
- Annual net income from dairy business exceeding Rs 10 lakh
With the Chhattisgarh government’s livestock development plans, technical guidance, and expansion of veterinary services, animal husbandry is emerging as a profitable business in the state. With the use of modern technologies and departmental support, farmers are becoming self-reliant and the rural economy is gaining new strength.
In this vein, Mr. Rajnath Yadav, a resident of Dorna village in the Lundra development block of Surguja district, has achieved remarkable success through modern dairy management and artificial insemination techniques. Today, he has emerged as an inspiration for progressive livestock farmers in the area, earning a net income of 10 to 12 lakh rupees annually from his dairy business.
- Journey from traditional animal husbandry to modern dairy

Rajnath Yadav explains that animal husbandry has traditionally been practiced in his family, but previously relying on local breeds of cattle and buffaloes limited income. With guidance from the Animal Husbandry Department, he adopted improved breeds like HF (Holstein Friesian) and began using modern techniques, which increased both production and income.
- Increased productivity through artificial insemination
With the support of the Veterinary Department, Rajnath improved his livestock using artificial insemination techniques. Now, instead of purchasing animals from outside, he is raising high-quality female calves on his own. He continues to benefit from the timely technical guidance and improved seed supply from department officials.
- Significant increase in milk production and income
He currently has 40 to 50 cows, producing approximately 300 to 350 liters of milk per day. After deducting all expenses, his dairy business generates a net income of approximately 10 to 12 lakh rupees per year, which has improved his standard of living.
- Awarded as an Advanced Livestock Farmer

In recognition of this achievement, Rajnath Yadav was honored as an “Advanced Animal Husbandry Officer” by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai at a recent farmers’ conference in Lundra. He attributed his success to the state government’s policies and the support of the Animal Husbandry Department.
- Rural economy is getting a new dimension
Rajnath Yadav believes that with the state government’s encouragement and technical support, animal husbandry has now become a profitable and sustainable business. This is not only increasing farmers’ incomes but also strengthening the rural economy.
