Permanent reform is not possible without changing the mindset of society.

  • Mrs. Rekha Yadav assumed charge as Chairperson of Madhya Pradesh State Women Commission

Giving new energy to the resolve for women’s empowerment in Madhya Pradesh, Mrs. Rekha Yadav formally assumed office as Chairperson of the Madhya Pradesh State Women’s Commission on Monday. Alongside her, newly appointed member Mrs. Sadhana Sthapakar also assumed charge. Speaking to the media after assuming office, Mrs. Yadav said that the Commission will no longer be limited to redressing complaints , but will write a new chapter in the ideological and social empowerment of women.

Praising the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Mrs. Rekha Yadav said that he is committed to ensuring that every woman in Madhya Pradesh feels self-reliant and secure. My primary responsibility is to realize this vision. We will ensure that the benefits of the government’s welfare schemes reach the last woman in line.

Taking a strong stance on crimes against women, Mrs. Yadav said that while the law is in place , lasting reform is impossible without a change in societal mindset. Laws alone cannot completely curb crime ; a shift in human thinking and social attitudes is essential. She added   that until the patriarchal mindset and society’s attitude toward women change , lasting reform in crime trends is impossible. Mrs. Yadav called on women to become self-aware and recognize their rights , as only an aware woman can stand firmly against injustice. She emphasized that knowledge of rights is the first step toward protection. Often, women continue to suffer exploitation due to lack of information. The State Women’s Commission will now play the role of a friend and guide. We will reach out to women in every district so that they can express their views without fear.

On this occasion, senior officers including Member Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Suresh Tomar and representatives of social organizations were present.
