People from across the state are saving by taking advantage of the scheme.

  • Homes are being illuminated through the Prime Minister’s Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme
  • The savings from solar systems are motivating people to take advantage of the scheme.

The Prime Minister’s Free Electricity Scheme for Solar Energy is having a widespread positive impact in the state. Inspired by the savings generated by the scheme, people are spontaneously joining the scheme, contributing to the production of clean energy and becoming energy providers. So far, more than 50,000 people in the state have benefited from this scheme and received government subsidies. People are now encouraging others to take advantage of the scheme.

In this context, Mr. Praveen Kumar Mishra, a resident of Bajrangpur Navagaon in Rajnandgaon district, has not only benefited from this scheme but has also become an inspiration for others. He explained that his family consists of three members. Previously, his monthly electricity bill was around ₹900 to ₹1,000, which would increase further during the summer season. On January 17, 2026, he installed a 3-kilowatt solar rooftop system on his roof. Since then, his electricity bill has been completely zero for the past three months. He explained that under this scheme, he received a total subsidy of ₹1,08,000 from the central and state governments, while he invested the remaining ₹81,000 himself. He has taken a bank loan for this, which he will repay over the next three years.

According to beneficiary Mr. Mishra, his solar system produces approximately 18 to 19 units of electricity per day, while his household consumes approximately 10 units. Thus, 8 to 9 units of additional electricity are being fed into the grid daily, which will generate additional income in the future. He explained that he applied immediately after learning about the scheme. The application process was simple and transparent, requiring only one visit to the bank to sign the documents. The rest of the process was completed smoothly. Mr. Mishra is so satisfied with the scheme that he encouraged three of his relatives to install solar systems, and their homes are also now equipped with solar panels. He says that solar energy is a clean, affordable, and sustainable option, which not only provides financial savings but also contributes to environmental protection. Mr. Praveen Kumar Mishra described the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme as extremely beneficial and public-friendly, expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai for the scheme.
