- State government schemes are making rural women self-reliant
- The collector visited Nidhi’s workplace to see her hard work and success.
The National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan), run by the Chhattisgarh government’s Panchayat and Rural Development Department, is becoming a powerful tool for the economic empowerment of rural women. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the state government is continuously striving to empower women and strengthen the rural economy. As a result, Nidhi Tiwari, from Amarpur village in the Pendra development block of the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district, has today established herself as a “Lakhpati Didi.”
Coming from a humble rural family, Nidhi Tiwari took a step toward self-reliance by joining the Deep Mahila Self-Help Group under the Bihan scheme in 2023. She is an active member of the group and also serves as its president.
- Regular income from animal husbandry
Three months after joining the group, Nidhi received 10,000 rupees from the revolving fund (RF) under the Bihan Yojana. With this money, she purchased a Jersey cow and began animal husbandry. Her cow produces approximately 15 liters of milk per day, providing a steady source of income.
- Better income from vegetable farming
Seeing Nidhi’s hard work and dedication, after six months she was given financial assistance of 60 thousand rupees under the Community Investment Fund (CIF). By combining her savings and additional funds, she started vegetable gardening in the fields. By cultivating various vegetables according to the season, she is continuously earning good income. In March, Nidhi planted a tomato crop in her field. With good care and hard work, the crop was good and now she is selling tomatoes in the local markets at the rate of about 40 rupees per kg. This has significantly increased her income. Nidhi’s annual income from animal husbandry and vegetable production has reached about 2.5 lakh rupees.
- Along with strengthening the financial condition of the family, she is making her dreams come true.
Nidhi Tiwari says that joining the Bihan Scheme has brought about a major change in her life. Now, she is not only strengthening her family’s financial situation but also fulfilling her dreams. She said that the state government’s schemes and the support of the Bihan Mission have given her a new direction to move forward with confidence.
- The Collector observed the vegetable garden works and congratulated them.
Impressed by Nidhi’s success and innovation, Dr. Santosh Kumar Dewangan, Collector of the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district, personally visited her work site and observed animal husbandry and vegetable gardening. Praising Nidhi’s hard work, dedication, and self-reliance, the Collector said that the Bihan Yojana is bringing positive changes to the lives of rural women and empowering them financially through self-employment.
- Bihaan has become a source of new hope and confidence for women.
District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mukesh Raote also praised Nidhi’s achievements, saying that the Bihan Yojana has become a source of new hope and confidence for rural women. By taking advantage of state government schemes, women are now playing a vital role in the economic progress of their families and villages.
Nidhi Tiwari’s success is a living example of how schemes implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai are empowering rural women with self-reliance, giving them a new identity of respect and prosperity.
