Agriculture department seized 640 bags of urea

The Surguja district administration took seriously a complaint about overpricing fertilizers sold to farmers and, after an investigation, seized 640 bags of urea fertilizer. This action was taken as part of a campaign to prevent fertilizer black marketing and overselling in the district. A
    team from the Agriculture Department conducted an investigation at an agricultural service center in village Bada Damali, Ambikapur development block. Farmers had complained that fertilizers were being sold at prices higher than the prescribed rates. Upon receiving the complaint, district and block-level investigation teams arrived at the site and recorded statements from farmers. Based on evidence gathered during the investigation and the farmers’ statements, serious irregularities in fertilizer sales were revealed. The investigation team found that the establishment’s operator had violated regulations.
    During the investigation, approximately 640 bags of urea fertilizer were found illegally stored in an undisclosed premises of the establishment, which were seized. The Agriculture Department is continuously monitoring the fertilizer storage and distribution system to ensure farmers receive fertilizers at reasonable prices during the Kharif season and to prevent black marketing.
