Women of Belpan shine in the business world, become ‘Lakhpati Didi’

The women of Belpan village, part of the Takhatpur District Panchayat in Bilaspur district, have proven that given opportunity, confidence, and collective effort, even rural women can reach new heights of success. Once confined to their homes and farming, the five women of the Radha Krishna Women’s Self-Help Group have today carved a new identity for themselves in their village. Their hard work and entrepreneurship have established them as “Lakhpati Didi.”
After joining the group, the women set a goal of economic self-reliance. They received RF funding of ₹15,000, CIF assistance of ₹60,000, and a bank loan of ₹6 lakh. Using this financial support, the women started a business of processing turmeric, chili, and other spices, as well as manufacturing murku and papad. Through
quality products and consistent hard work, their business has steadily grown. Today, each member of the group earns approximately ₹45,000 to ₹50,000 per month, bringing their annual income to over ₹5 lakh. The increased income has strengthened families’ financial positions, making it easier to meet their children’s education, health, and other needs.
The women in the group explain that they previously lacked a strong following in the village, but today they are recognized as successful entrepreneurs. Their success is inspiring other rural women.
