The government has issued tenders for five projects in front of the Shankar Nagar BTI ground and others under the redevelopment plan.

  • Tenders issued by Housing and Infrastructure Development Board

The Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board is launching five major redevelopment projects in various cities across the state. This initiative represents a significant step taken by the Chhattisgarh government towards urban development, better utilization of government assets, and the expansion of modern civic amenities. These projects will be developed under the state’s redevelopment policy. The Housing and Environment Department has been designated as the nodal department, and the Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board as the implementing agency. The Board has prepared preliminary project reports (PPRs) and detailed project reports (DPRs) for the redevelopment projects. A transparent tender process has been established to select private developers and ensure effective project implementation.

The Council of Ministers has granted in-principle approval to the proposed projects. Subsequently, on May 27, 2026, a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary discussed the final design of the five projects in detail and approved them. The total area of the proposed projects is approximately 19.14 acres and, according to the revised guideline rates for the year 2025-26, their estimated cost is approximately ₹250.30 crore. These projects will be developed in BTI Road Shankar Nagar (Raipur), Club Para (Mahasamund), Kailash Nagar (Rajnandgaon), Katghora (Korba), and Chandni Chowk Phase-2 (Jagdalpur). Tenders for these five redevelopment projects have been issued by the Housing and Infrastructure Development Board. The proposed project holds special significance in the capital city of Raipur. It is located near Sindhu Bhawan, opposite the BTI Ground in Shankar Nagar, a prime and developed area of the city. This area is a major hub of educational, administrative, commercial, and residential activities. With the development of the project, modern infrastructure will be expanded in the area and better utilization of government assets will be ensured.

Under the redevelopment model, dilapidated and unusable government assets will be replaced with modern and well-maintained infrastructure. These projects will require no additional financial burden. The value of government land itself will be used as a financial resource for the projects. This will ensure optimal use of government land and generate additional revenue for the state.

This initiative also offers attractive opportunities for private developers. They will have the opportunity to develop projects on prime land in key areas of cities. A clear policy, transparent tender process, and partnership with government agencies will ensure trust and sustainability in projects. Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary stated that the state government, under the leadership of Honorable Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is committed to giving a new direction to urban development. Through the redevelopment policy, unused and dilapidated government assets will be transformed into modern and useful infrastructure. This will enhance the efficiency and aesthetics of cities and ensure better utilization of public resources. He stated that modern and citizen-centric urban development will gain new impetus through public-private partnerships.

Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board, Mr. Anurag Singhdev, said that the Board is establishing a new work culture of redevelopment in the state. These projects are not limited to building construction alone, but are an effort to holistically transform urban areas. He said that the proposed project in front of the BTI Ground, Shankar Nagar, will prove to be an ideal urban development model for the capital Raipur. The Board is pursuing these projects with quality, transparency, and timely implementation. Commissioner Mr. Avnish Kumar Sharan, while reviewing these projects in the TL meeting, directed to prepare and submit proposals for eight new upcoming redevelopment projects soon.
