Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, Good Governance Festival has emerged as an effective campaign to provide prompt solutions to public problems and provide health services to every village. In this regard, special health camps were organized in Surguja district from May 1 to June 10, 2026, under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program, to promote timely TB detection, treatment, and public awareness. Digital X-rays were conducted on 5,890 people in 42 special health camps organized by the district administration and health department, and 30 individuals were confirmed to have TB. In 538 sputum tests, 23 patients were found to be TB positive. During the campaign, a total of 53 new TB patients were identified and their immediate treatment was initiated, successfully preventing the spread of the disease and providing timely treatment to patients.
During the campaign, effective monitoring was carried out for the identification, testing, treatment, and regular follow-up of potential patients. Special attention was also paid to providing nutritional support to patients under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana. Secretaries from 40 gram panchayats in the district participated as Nikshay Mitra (friends) and provided food baskets to 38 TB patients undergoing treatment, ensuring they received the necessary nutritional support during treatment. To encourage TB-free gram panchayats, the sarpanchs, panchs, and secretaries of gram panchayats declared TB-free were honored with a statue of Mahatma Gandhi and a citation in the presence of public representatives and officials. This initiative is inspiring other gram panchayats to actively participate in the TB eradication campaign.
In accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, access to health services is being ensured for every person through Good Governance Festival. The Health Department has appealed to citizens that if they experience persistent cough, fever, weight loss, or other symptoms of TB for more than two weeks, they must get a free checkup at the nearest health center. With timely testing, regular treatment, and public participation, the goal of a TB-free Surguja and a TB-free India can be quickly realized.
