- 16 police personnel were injured while performing their duties during the rally; the Commissioner consulted with doctors and inquired about their treatment.
During the protest rally organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to surround the Congress Bhavan, the police force was maintaining security by erecting barricades to maintain law and order and control the rally. Meanwhile, some activists from the Congress Bhavan side climbed behind the barricades, shouting slogans, and throwing stones and bottles, creating chaos. Sixteen police personnel on duty were injured. Two police personnel, including a woman constable, sustained serious injuries. Police controlled the situation by using water cannons and tear gas, and no untoward incident occurred.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Raipur Police Commissioner Mr. Sanjeev Shukla visited Ramakrishna Care Hospital and met with the admitted police personnel to inquire about their well-being. He obtained detailed information from the doctors about the injured personnel’s health and treatment and directed proper treatment for all the injured. He encouraged the personnel and wished them a speedy recovery.
Injured soldier Kaleshwar Verma stated that he experienced difficulty breathing after being trapped in the crowd during the barricade, and was immediately brought to the hospital. Meanwhile, trainee sub-inspector (PSI) Devraj Singh suffered serious injuries after being struck on the head by a bottle and is undergoing treatment under medical supervision.
The other injured constables were discharged from the hospital after receiving first aid. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mr. Tarkeshwar Patel, ACP Mr. Nilesh Dwivedi, TI Mr. Rajesh Marai, and other senior police officers were present.
