Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that special efforts are being made in collaboration with the state government to make Chhattisgarh advanced and self-reliant in the field of agriculture. A team of senior agricultural scientists of the central government and state government officials will prepare a special policy in accordance with the agroclimate of Chhattisgarh in the next one week. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma and Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Chief Secretary Shri Vikassheel, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Singh, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary Smt. Shahla Nigar, along with senior administrative officers of the central and state governments were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan made these remarks while addressing officials after a high-level review of the Agriculture Department’s work at the Ministry Mahanadi Bhawan today. They also stated in the meeting that crop diversification should be promoted in the state to increase farmers’ income. Additionally, small-scale farmers should be encouraged to pursue non-agricultural allied activities such as animal husbandry, fisheries, and forestry.
Union Minister Mr. Singh said that the problem of research and variety in the state will be resolved and work will be done on crop diversity. Mr. Chauhan said that the intention with which I have come here is that good work is being done, but there are infinite possibilities to do better. By doing different experiments, agriculture will be strengthened further. He said that research should be such that it directly benefits the farmers. He reviewed strengthening of Farmer Producer Organization, physical verification of distribution of agricultural equipment and Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya District Scheme. The Union Minister interacted with the agriculture officers and colleagues of Chhattisgarh and stressed on innovation along with teamwork and said that those who do good work will be honored.
Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the implementation of central and state government schemes for agricultural development and farmer empowerment in Chhattisgarh. Union Minister Chouhan stated that Chhattisgarh has a suitable climate for growing a variety of crops. Emphasizing crop diversification, he called for promoting different crops in different districts and regions, tailored to the climate.
Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, continuous and meaningful efforts are being made to increase the income of the country’s farmers. He said that by adopting modern agricultural equipment and farming techniques and doing farming with innovation, crop production will increase, farmers will be empowered, and the country will prosper. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, better work is being done in Chhattisgarh. The state has a suitable climate for horticultural crops including pulses and oilseeds. This will increase farmers’ income through crop change and diversification.
Union Minister Shri Chouhan reviewed the progress of various schemes, including the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Agricultural Irrigation Scheme, the Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulses Scheme, Krishi Unnati, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, and the Horticulture Mission Scheme. He called for ensuring that eligible farmers receive 100% benefits under the PM Samman Nidhi Yojana. He emphasized the need to promote palm oil and makhana cultivation.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the prompt assistance provided by the Central Government in the fields of agriculture and rural development. The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is receiving more assistance from the Central Government than expected. The Chief Minister said that the guidelines received from Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the meeting to improve the fields of rural development and agriculture in the state will accelerate the development of these sectors.
