- Extensive modernization will take place, including indoor sports, gym, swimming pool, modern residential facilities
The Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board has proposed a significant project to appoint an agency under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on a license basis to develop, operate, and maintain the Queens Club of India in Raipur, the capital. This initiative will be a significant step toward establishing Raipur as a modern and premium hospitality and wellness destination.
Under the project, modern sports and fitness facilities, including squash courts, tennis courts, a gym, a swimming pool, a badminton hall, a billiards room, and a table tennis hall, will be developed and operated within the club premises. The existing infrastructure will also be extensively modernized and renovated.
Finance, Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary stated that this project will play a key role in establishing Raipur as a new premium hospitality hub. It will boost private investment in the state, increase employment opportunities, and provide a new impetus to quality urban infrastructure development. He clarified that the special membership of 108 members of the MP and MLA category under the Queens Club of India’s Special Housing Scheme will continue as before. During the project’s implementation, the interests and facilities of current members will be fully protected.
Divisional President Mr. Anurag Singh Deo stated that the project will be developed under the License, Develop, Operate, and Transfer (LDOT) model. The proposed plan will ensure improved operation and management of the club’s existing facilities, and a modern residential and hospitality block with approximately 61 rooms will be constructed on vacant land in the tennis court area. He stated that an investment of approximately ₹25 crore (approximately $250 million) is proposed for the project. This will not only develop state-of-the-art facilities but also generate long-term revenue, increase economic activity, and create new employment opportunities. The project’s license period is set at 20 years, with a provision for an additional 10 years of extension.
Mr. Dev said that the project, with its excellent road connectivity and improved connectivity to key areas of the city, will be a major attraction for both investors and users. It will develop a new hub of high-end hospitality, sports, and healthcare facilities in the capital.
