The Chhattisgarh government’s disability-friendly schemes are bringing positive changes to the lives of those in need. Mr. Narmesh Kumar Dhavade, a resident of Manjhiyapur village in the Mohla development block of the Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadh Chowki district, has emerged as an inspiring example. Despite suffering from 76% disability, he persisted in difficult circumstances and today lives a self-sufficient life with the help of a battery-operated tricycle.
Mr. Narmesh Kumar Dhavade is a small rural businessman who supports his family by running a small grocery shop in his village. Due to his disability, he faced serious difficulties in commuting. Negative comments and social challenges often discouraged him, but he maintained his confidence.
During this time, he learned about a Social Welfare Department scheme that provides battery-operated tricycles to eligible beneficiaries with 70% or more disability. He submitted an application with the necessary documents. The district administration and Social Welfare Department acted swiftly, approving his application and providing him with a tricycle.
After receiving the tricycle, Mr. Narmesh’s life has changed significantly. He can now easily reach his shop, perform daily chores, and no longer needs to rely on anyone. This has increased his income and provided financial support to his family.
Mr. Narmesh explains that while previously even leaving the house was challenging, he is now able to regularly carry out his work. He believes that disability is not a weakness; rather, with self-confidence and persistent effort, every difficulty can be overcome.
Today, Mr. Narmesh has become an inspiration for other disabled people in his area. He raises awareness about the importance of education, self-confidence, and self-reliance, inspiring them to stand on their own feet.
He expressed his gratitude to the Chhattisgarh government, the district administration, and the Social Welfare Department for this positive change. He said that the public welfare schemes implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai have given his life a new direction and provided him with the opportunity to live a life of dignity.
