- “Munga in every house, Munga in every courtyard” campaign
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade has appealed to the people of the state to plant as many Moringa (drumstick) plants as possible during the rainy season, so that a malnutrition-free, healthy and prosperous Chhattisgarh can be created. The department is running a “Suposhan Vriksha-Munga” campaign in Anganwadi centers and homes, the objective of which is to provide local nutritious food to children, adolescent girls and mothers.
He said that Moringa, known as “Mother’s Tree”, is rich in protein, calcium, iron and vitamins and is extremely useful in child development, maternal health and prevention of anaemia.
The government is making nutrition improvement a public participation-based campaign. Planting moong dal in Anganwadis and homes will ensure nutrition awareness and long-term health protection.
- Appeal to public representatives
The Minister urged MPs, MLAs, and Panchayat representatives to lead the planting of Moringa trees in their areas. He emphasized the need to develop nutrition gardens by planting trees extensively in schools, Anganwadi centers, Panchayat buildings, and public places.
- Collective participation
He appealed to women’s groups, Anganwadi workers, family members, youth, and organizations to actively participate in the campaign. Planting moong plants in fields, homes, and public spaces will promote nutrition, the environment, and greenery.
Minister Smt. Rajwade said that every Moringa plant symbolizes health and prosperity. She called for
“Moringa in every home, Moringa in every courtyard—a well-nourished childhood and a healthy family are the foundation of a new Chhattisgarh.”
He expressed confidence that this campaign will become a strong mass movement with public support and will play an important role in making Chhattisgarh a well-nourished and green state.
