Amidst the global surge of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Chhattisgarh is preparing to take a significant leap forward. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is fully committed to linking AI with new opportunities for development, employment, and good governance. Large-scale preparations are underway across the state to promote the use of AI in sectors ranging from agriculture to healthcare, education, and administration. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the government is firmly resolved to build a ‘Developed Chhattisgarh’ by creating new avenues for employment and innovation through the effective use of AI in education, health, agriculture, and public service.
- Chief Minister’s AI Mission: A ₹500 Crore Initiative
Keeping future needs in mind, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has launched the ‘Chief Minister’s AI Mission’ with an outlay of ₹500 crore. The primary objective of this mission is to position Chhattisgarh not merely as a state that adopts AI technology, but as a leader in its application and innovation. Under this mission, 100 AI labs and 5 Centers of Excellence will be established across the state.
The scheme aims to integrate approximately 6 lakh students and 1.5 lakh government officials and employees with AI technology. Additionally, more than 50 government services will be enhanced for greater efficiency through AI. Training in machine learning and data science is being provided to empower the youth to become job creators rather than mere job seekers.
- Application of AI in Agriculture, Health, and Administration
The scope of this mission extends beyond the IT sector; it is being implemented on the ground to simplify the lives of the common people. By analyzing data related to weather, crops, pests, and diseases, farmers will receive timely and accurate advice. AI-based technology will improve diagnostics, disease identification, and the management of health resources.
- Good Governance and Industry
The expansion of government portals (such as ‘Seva Setu’) and the use of AI are streamlining scheme monitoring and citizen services. Meanwhile, productivity and energy efficiency in industries will increase. The use of robotics and machine learning in factories accelerates production and reduces errors. AI sensors continuously monitor the condition of machinery and provide warnings before breakdowns occur, thereby saving costs. AI-driven tools are employed in industries to understand individual preferences and provide 24/7 support.
- Nava Raipur Emerging as a New Hub for Technology and AI
Nava Raipur is being developed as a major center for IT, AI, and data centers. An AI-based data center and an AI SEZ (Special Economic Zone) are being developed here with an investment of approximately ₹1,000 crore. Additionally, a decision has been made to establish a National Skill Training Institute in Nava Raipur at a cost of around ₹200 crore. Through AI Centers of Excellence at NIT Raipur and IIIT Nava Raipur, research and startups in sectors such as mining, steel, healthcare, agriculture, and smart governance are being fostered, opening up new avenues for high-tech employment for the youth of Chhattisgarh.
- Country’s First AI-Based Data Center in Nava Raipur
The country’s first AI-based data center is being developed across 13.5 acres in Sector-22 of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. This project will not only elevate the state’s profile but also bring significant changes for the general public. The state’s youth will no longer need to migrate to big cities for better career opportunities. Furthermore, farmers, students, and ordinary citizens will also benefit from AI technology. Strengthened digital services will ensure that the benefits of education, healthcare, and government schemes easily reach even remote areas.
