- Innovation and sensitivity gave a new direction to primary education
It is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh that Mrs. Sunita Yadav, a teacher from Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district, has been selected for the National Teachers’ Award 2026. She is the only teacher selected from the state for this prestigious honor. She will be honored with a citation, shawl, and cheque in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day.
Posted at Government Primary School Khichri in the Barmkela development block, Mrs. Sunita Yadav has made learning simple and interesting for children by integrating education with innovation, literature, and technology. She makes special efforts to integrate children in the lower grades into the mainstream. For their nutrition and health, she provides regular milk at her own expense and encourages them to attend Nyota meals.
Mrs. Sunita teaches children through the Diksha app, Storyweaver, audiobooks, podcasts, and short films. Her efforts to explain topics in a simple manner through short films starring children and herself have earned her special recognition. She has also prepared a research paper on the changes in primary schools in the context of the National Education Policy 2020. She has also taught at a free summer camp for tribal children in Bilaspur district.
Active in literature and social service along with education, Mrs. Sunita Yadav has been honored with the State Teacher Award in the year 2024 and the Pandit Mukutdhar Pandey Memorial Award in the year 2025. She also participates in social work like manufacturing seed balls for nature conservation and making Rakhi for soldiers.
This achievement of Mrs. Sunita Yadav is the result of her dedication, innovation and sensitive teaching, which has not only given a new direction to children’s education, but has also made Chhattisgarh proud at the national level.
