- Under the initiative of the National Child Health Program, Dundera’s Jeevika underwent a successful cochlear implant at AIIMS Raipur, Dongargarh’s RBSK team became a link of hope.
Until now, little Jeevika could only see the world, but now she will be able to hear it as well. For this girl from Dundera village in the Dongargarh development block of Rajnandgaon district, the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (Chirayu) has become the beginning of a new life. Due to congenital hearing impairment, Jeevika was unable to hear and speak like normal children. This was a matter of concern for the family, but timely health check-ups and the support of the government health system gave new life to their hopes.
During a routine health check-up at Anganwadi Center No. 1, Dundera, RBSK Team-A, Dongargarh, identified Jeevika’s problem. The team wasted no time in conducting the necessary medical tests, consulting specialists, and referring her to AIIMS, Raipur. Here, expert doctors successfully performed a cochlear implant. Now, with regular speech therapy and rehabilitation, Jeevika will gradually become familiar with the world of sounds and learn to speak like normal children.
The National Child Health Program is bringing a new ray of hope to thousands of such children. Under the program, children with congenital disorders, nutritional problems, developmental delays, and other serious illnesses are identified early and provided free treatment. If necessary, they are referred to higher health institutions and provided with modern medical facilities.
Jeevika’s story is proof that if a disease is identified early and treatment is provided in a timely manner, the future of many children can be transformed.
