Connecting specially backward tribes with mainstream development is the priority of the government: Shri Sonamni Bora

A review meeting of departmental schemes and works was held today in the Collectorate hall, Ambikapur under the chairmanship of Shri Sonamni Bora, Principal Secretary, Tribal, Scheduled Caste, Backward Class and Minority Development Department. In the meeting, an agenda-wise in-depth review of demands and complaints received during PM Janman, Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, Tree Plantation Week, Construction of hostels and ashram buildings under Article 275 (1) of the Constitution and State Fund, Prayas Residential School Operation, Good Governance Tihar was done.

Principal Secretary Mr. Bora said that connecting the special backward tribes with the mainstream of development and improving their standard of living is the top priority of the Chhattisgarh government. He told all the officers to ensure the implementation of these schemes with honesty and sensitivity. He gave strict instructions to complete the construction work of the houses approved for the special backward tribal families under the PM Janman Yojana within the time limit. He said that keeping in mind the condition of these families living in inaccessible forest areas, the construction work of permanent houses should be completed in any case before the rains. If there is any shortage of material or any other obstacle, then immediately inform the Collector or District Panchayat CEO and ensure the solution by coordinating yourself.

Before the start of the academic session 2025-26, instructions were given to inspect all the hostels and ashrams, observe cleanliness, syntax repair, drinking water system, drainage system, condition of bathrooms-toilets etc. and get the necessary repair work done soon. Principal Secretary Mr. Bora informed that a new system of scholarship distribution is being made, so that students can get scholarship on time. Along with this, while giving information about the appointment of new superintendents, instructions were also given to organize orientation programs for them.

Under the tree plantation week, instructions were also given in the meeting to keep pits ready for planting fruitful, medicinal and multipurpose plants such as tamarind, mango, jackfruit, banyan, drumstick (moonga) in PM Janman settlements, Dharti Aaba village, hostels, ashrams and to prepare an action plan for plantation on the scheduled date. He directed the officers to ensure timely and quality disposal of the applications received under Sushasan Tihar as well as to inspect schools and hostels regularly and remove the deficiencies on priority. Collector Mr. Vilas Bhoskar, Deputy Secretary Mr. U.K. Rajput, Project Administrator of Surajpur, Korea, Balrampur, MCB from all the districts of Surguja division, Assistant Commissioner, District Panchayat CEO and other officers of Tribal Development Department were present in the meeting.
