- She is earning 20 to 25 thousand rupees per month by running a shop in Bagbahara.
Deepika Chandrakar, a resident of Bodridadar village in the district’s Bagbahara development block, took a step toward self-employment by receiving tailoring and beauty parlor training from the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute. After the training, she decided to open her own shop in the nearby Nagar Panchayat, Bagbahara, instead of in her village, considering her skills and the potential of the local market. Today, her approach has not only made her financially independent but is also contributing significantly to her family’s income.
Deepika explains that after receiving training from ARSETI, she developed the idea of starting her own business. She realized that opening a shop in Bagbahara town would provide access to more customers than operating a shop in the village. With this thought in mind, she decided to open her own boutique and beauty parlor in Bagbahara. Starting a business didn’t require a large investment. Deepika invested approximately 50,000 rupees from her household savings to open the shop. This limited-capital business gradually grew, and today her shop generates an income of approximately 20,000 to 25,000 rupees per month.
Deepika says that the training at IRSET provided her with the knowledge, confidence, and guidance she needed to start a self-employment business. Following the training, she made her own decisions, utilized available resources, and started a small-scale business, earning a regular income and becoming financially empowered.
