Dhamtari district has achieved a significant milestone in promoting quality education in Scheduled Tribe-dominated areas and providing tribal students with opportunities to compete at the national level. The Chhattisgarh Government’s Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department has approved the establishment of a new Eklavya Model Residential School ( EMRS ) in the district. With the opening of this new institution, talented tribal students from remote, forested, and inaccessible areas of the district will benefit from excellent, modern, and completely free residential education. It
is noteworthy that the Eklavya Model Residential School, located in Patharidih, under the Nagari development block of the district, has established itself as one of the best model schools in the state due to its outstanding academic achievements, disciplined teaching system, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and remarkable performance in sports and co-curricular activities. Keeping this excellent performance and regional needs in mind, the government has decided to establish a second Eklavya Model Residential School in the district.
With the opening of the new school, tribal students will receive quality education, modern digital classrooms, science and computer labs, a rich library, sports facilities, and a variety of personality development opportunities. Selected students will be provided with completely free accommodation, nutritious meals, uniforms, study materials, health facilities, and other necessary resources, ensuring equal opportunities for children from economically disadvantaged families.
In addition to the regular curriculum, the school will also provide specialized academic guidance, experienced faculty support, and career counseling for preparation for national-level competitive examinations, including the NEET , JEE , and CLAT. This will provide students with better opportunities for higher education and admission to prestigious institutions. Special attention will also be given to sports, arts, culture, leadership skills, and life skills development, ensuring students’ all-round development. The
establishment of the new school will also create local employment opportunities in teaching, hostel management, security, maintenance, and other support services, thereby accelerating the region’s social and economic development.
Collector Mr. Abinash Mishra said, “Ekalavya Adarsh Residential School is not just an educational institution, but a powerful means of giving new wings to the dreams of children from tribal areas. This government initiative will provide talented students from remote areas with quality education, modern resources, and a competitive environment comparable to those in metropolitan cities. We will strive to ensure that all necessary procedures related to the establishment of the school are completed within the stipulated timeframe so that children can benefit from it quickly. This institution will play a vital role in elevating the quality of education in the district to new heights and in the overall empowerment of the tribal community.”
Collector Mr. Mishra has directed the concerned officials to quickly identify suitable land for school building construction and complete other necessary procedures in a timely manner. Public representatives, villagers, educationists, and enlightened citizens of the tribal community have expressed their happiness over this important educational gift to the district and expressed their gratitude to the Chhattisgarh government. This initiative will undoubtedly prove to be an important milestone towards the bright future of tribal students and the educational development of the district.
