Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign—launched at the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi—Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal planted a tree today at the Ashoka Palm Meadows Society in Raipur. On this occasion, while conveying a message of environmental conservation, he urged as many people as possible to plant trees and fulfill their responsibility towards nature.
Public representatives and dignitaries, including Shri Rajesh Munat, Shri Anuj Sharma, and Shri Rajiv Agrawal, were present at the tree plantation event. Everyone planted saplings and pledged to conserve the environment and increase greenery.
Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal stated that ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is not merely a tree-planting drive but a mass movement rooted in respect for nature and the spirit of motherhood. Through this campaign, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has conveyed an emotional and environmental message to the citizens of the country to plant a tree in honor of their mothers.
He remarked that amidst rapid urbanization and changing environmental conditions, the importance of trees has grown significantly. Trees not only provide us with oxygen but also play a crucial role in water and soil conservation, temperature regulation, and the preservation of biodiversity.
Shri Agrawal said that planting a single tree is a small contribution to nature, but when this resolve is shared by millions of people, the impact becomes immense. We must take responsibility for planting as many saplings as possible in our homes, neighborhoods, villages, and cities, while also ensuring their care and protection.

Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal emphasized that merely planting saplings is not enough; regular care of the planted saplings until they mature into trees is equally essential. He appealed to citizens, social organizations, the youth, and various institutions to join this campaign.
He added that a sapling planted today would lay the foundation for shade, clean air, and a better environment in the years to come. Therefore, everyone should link significant occasions in their lives with tree plantation.

Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Agrawal stated that Chhattisgarh is a state rich in natural wealth. Its dense forests, rivers, waterfalls, mountains, and biodiversity are major strengths for tourism. Environmental conservation and tourism development complement each other.
He noted that developing tourist destinations while preserving nature is among the state’s priorities. Promoting green and eco-friendly tourism will offer tourists a superior natural experience while creating employment and livelihood opportunities for local communities.
