A delegation from HDFC Bank paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his official residence in Raipur. Chief Minister Sai congratulated the bank’s management, officials, staff, and customers on this achievement. While interacting with the bank representatives, Chief Minister Sai remarked that a robust and accessible banking system plays a crucial role in the economic progress of any state. Banking services have expanded rapidly in recent years, and digital technology has made financial services more convenient than ever. The need now is to ensure that the benefits of modern banking facilities are not limited to major cities and commercial hubs but reach citizens living in villages and remote areas equally.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the banking network in Chhattisgarh should be further expanded to increase access to banking facilities, particularly in the rural and remote regions of the Bastar and Sarguja divisions. He noted that a significant portion of Chhattisgarh is rural and tribal-dominated. Increased availability of banking services in these areas will provide people with greater opportunities to engage in economic activities and facilitate easier access to the benefits of various government welfare schemes.

Chief Minister Sai added that the impact of having a bank branch or banking facility near a village extends beyond mere banking transactions; it yields far-reaching social and economic outcomes. Highlighting the role of women’s self-help groups, Chief Minister Sai remarked that women in Chhattisgarh are rapidly moving towards self-reliance by engaging in various livelihood activities and small enterprises through these groups. If banking institutions further strengthen access to credit, financial literacy, and other banking facilities for these groups, it could provide significant support to women’s entrepreneurship. Economically empowered women play a crucial role in strengthening not only their families’ finances but also the economy of the entire village.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the state government aims to create an environment in Chhattisgarh that offers the youth ample opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship alongside traditional employment. The state’s youth possess talent and the potential for growth; banks can become vital partners by linking their ideas and entrepreneurial spirit with financial support. Timely financial assistance to small and medium enterprises will further accelerate job creation and economic activity across the state. The Chief Minister stated that Chhattisgarh is currently undergoing a new phase of development. Alongside the expansion of infrastructure, opportunities are rapidly growing in sectors such as industry, trade, agriculture, services, and the new economy. The state government aims to extend the benefits of these development opportunities to every region and every section of society. Active participation from banking and financial institutions is essential to achieving this goal.

He remarked that banks are not merely financial institutions but vital links connecting people’s dreams and economic potential with the necessary resources.
