A living example of this is farmer Pakluram Maurya, a resident of Singanpur village in the Tokapal development block of Bastar district, who has transformed his farming into a profitable business by taking advantage of modern agricultural techniques and government schemes. Pakluram Maurya repays his crop loan every year by selling paddy at the support price and also uses the assistance received from the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi for farming.

Pakluram Maurya said that he has been cultivating advanced paddy and maize on his four and a half acres of agricultural land for the past two years. Benefiting from government schemes and the guidance of the Agriculture Department, his income has steadily increased, making his family financially strong and prosperous. He said that the interest-free crop loan available through the Kisan Credit Card has made farming easier. With timely access to loans, he is able to arrange the necessary resources for farming and is doing farming in a better way. As a result, he sells paddy worth approximately two to two and a half lakh rupees every year at the support price.

Pakluram explained that he uses fertilizers in a balanced manner, as advised by the field staff of the Agriculture Department. The use of Nano DAP and Nano Urea, in particular, has significantly increased his crop productivity. Adopting modern techniques has reduced farming costs and increased production. The income from advanced farming has improved his family’s standard of living. He explained that with the income from farming, he is providing higher education to his daughter, Hemvati Maurya, at Jagdalpur College. He is also able to easily meet all the family’s needs.
