General Manager Shri Tarun Prakash Conducts Detailed Safety Inspection of Champa–Raigarh Rail Section

  • Directives issued to prioritize high quality, passenger amenities, and safety while reviewing the progress of construction works.

Shri Tarun Prakash, General Manager of South East Central Railway, conducted a detailed safety inspection of the Champa–Baradwar–Raigarh rail section within the Bilaspur Division today. During the visit, he carried out an intensive inspection of various stations, rail sections, and critical structures, reviewing aspects such as rail safety, passenger amenities, station development, construction activities, and operational arrangements.

Senior officers and supervisors from both the headquarters and the division—including Principal Heads of Departments from the headquarters and Divisional Railway Manager Shri Rakesh Ranjan—were present during the inspection.

  • Inspection of Passenger Amenities and Operational Arrangements at Champa Station

Upon arriving at Champa Station, General Manager Shri Tarun Prakash inspected various passenger and operational facilities within the station premises. He inaugurated the newly constructed Track Machine Rest House and a children’s park in the railway colony. A tree plantation drive was also undertaken by the General Manager and other officials at the Track Machine Rest House. Additionally, he assessed the cleanliness and sanitation arrangements in the railway colony.

He inspected the station premises, parcel office, sanitation facilities, RPF post and barracks, health unit, ARME Scale-II unit, waiting halls, retiring rooms, and the circulating area, gathering details about the arrangements from the concerned officials. During the visit, he met with public representatives and members of the Chamber of Commerce. He also interacted with media representatives, discussing topics related to the development of passenger amenities, rail security, safety, and construction projects.

Subsequently, the General Manager inspected Road Over Bridge (ROB) No. 337, Minor Bridge No. 51 (located between Champa and Saragaon Road stations), and Rail Under Bridge (RUB) No. 53A (LHS) to assess safety arrangements.

  • Review of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Works at Baradwar Station

At Baradwar station, the General Manager inspected the ongoing passenger amenity and station upgradation works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and assessed the cleanliness arrangements. Additionally, he observed the functioning of the in-motion weighbridge and the process of weighing freight train rakes using it.

  • Speed ​​Trial on the Sakti–Jharadih Rail Section

At Sakti station, the General Manager inspected the Auto Hut, SSP, and electrical equipment, testing their functionality via drone and remote control. Subsequently, a speed trial was conducted on the rail section between Sakti and Jharadih stations. During this trial, arrangements and safety standards related to train operations at the prescribed speed were evaluated.

The General Manager conducted a detailed inspection of the Jharadih station yard. He closely examined all the points located in the yard, observing their condition, functionality, and operational arrangements. He also inspected the railway colony.

  • Inspection of Running Room and Crew Lobby at Kharsia Station

At Kharsia station, the General Manager inspected the running room, crew lobby, and station premises. During the inspection of the crew lobby and running room, he interacted with loco pilots and other running staff to gather information on safety-related matters and the amenities provided to them.

He also interacted with the staff of Gang No. 13 to understand the challenges at the workplace, safety precautions, and available resources.
Following this, he closely inspected Curve No. 35 located on the ‘Down’ line between Kharsia and Robertson. Upon reaching Robertson station, he held detailed discussions with officials regarding the progress of yard remodeling and other structural works.

  • Inspection of Key Railway Infrastructure and Level Crossings

The General Manager conducted a thorough safety inspection of SEJ (Switched Expansion Joint) No. KD01, located between Robertson and Bhupdeopur, as well as the bridge over the Mand River. Additionally, he inspected Level Crossing No. 297 situated between Bhupdeopur and Kirodimalnagar, evaluating the gateman’s working procedures and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Review of ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ Works at Raigarh Station

In the final leg of the inspection, General Manager Shri Tarun Prakash visited Raigarh Station. There, he reviewed the progress of passenger amenities and various construction and upgradation works being undertaken under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’.
While inquiring about the progress of the works from officials, he instructed them to pay special attention to quality and safety standards in construction activities and to ensure the timely completion of the projects.

At Raigarh Station, the General Manager also interacted with public representatives, trade unions, and members of merchant associations. Furthermore, he engaged with media representatives, sharing information regarding the development of passenger amenities, railway security and safety, and various ongoing construction projects.
