Classes for the ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Protection of Child Rights (RAKSHAK)’ course commenced simultaneously across six universities in the state, following an initiative by the Chhattisgarh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights aimed at fostering awareness and promoting the protection of child rights. An online meeting involving the Vice-Chancellors and concerned officials of all six universities was held to mark the launch. The Commission’s Chairperson, Dr. Varnika Sharma, also participated in the meeting.

Higher Education Minister Shri Tankram Verma participated in the meeting virtually. While congratulating the universities on the course’s launch, he shared his views on the necessity of protecting and promoting child rights. Minister for Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade, also extended her best wishes to all the universities, students, and associated institutions. She remarked that this initiative is crucial for safeguarding children’s rights, ensuring their secure future, and raising awareness within society.

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellors expressed their commitment to working collaboratively for the protection and promotion of child rights and to advancing collective efforts toward a secure future for children. Students asked questions regarding child rights-related topics during the program. The Commission’s Chairperson and Secretary answered their queries and shared relevant information.
The objective of the ‘Rakshak’ course is to raise awareness about child rights and develop a workforce that is both trained and sensitive to this field. This initiative will broaden the understanding of child rights and encourage effective action at the institutional level for child protection.

Classes for the ‘Rakshak’ course have commenced at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Kushabhau Thakre University, Sant Gahira Guru University, Amity University, Anjaneya University, and Shankaracharya University. With the participation of all six universities, this curriculum will advance the shared effort to protect and promote child rights.
