- Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri; Honors Dr. Ambedkar
On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, a walkathon was organized in the capital, Raipur, today. Held under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign), the event aimed to foster a resolve for a drug-free India. Governor Shri Ramen Deka participated in the walkathon and conveyed the message of building a drug-free society to the citizens.

Governor Deka began by paying floral tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at his statue in the Town Hall complex. He then joined the walkathon, which commenced from the Town Hall. During the procession, floral tributes were also paid to Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at his statue.
Starting from the Town Hall, the walkathon reached Ambedkar Chowk, where Governor Deka paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. He emphasized the importance of collective participation and public awareness in building a drug-free India.

A large number of people—including MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, MLAs Shri Purandar Mishra and Shri Sunil Soni, as well as youth, women, students, and city residents—participated in the walkathon. During the event, participants pledged to stay away from substance abuse and to work towards making society drug-free.
