A special session of Parliament is commencing on April 16, 2026, to increase women’s participation in democracy. In 2023, all parties unanimously passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. Reservation for women in a democratic system has been discussed for decades. All parties have advanced this idea in their own ways. The government is continuing its efforts to implement the Act. Implementation should be done through dialogue, cooperation, and participation. This time, we will receive everyone’s support, and the dignity of Parliament will reach new heights. The path is being paved for greater representation for women in the Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha. A positive atmosphere has been created in the country. Congratulations to all women of the country on a new era. Prime Minister Shri Modi was addressing the national-level ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on April 13. The event was attended by eminent personalities and women achievers from various fields. Representatives from various sectors, including government, academia, science, sports, entrepreneurship, media, social work, and culture, participated. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, along with members of the Council of Ministers, joined the event virtually from the Ministry.
In September 2023, Parliament passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, a significant step toward increasing women’s representation in legislative bodies. This act provides for the reservation of one-third of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures. A three-day session of Parliament has now been convened on April 16th to implement women’s reservations across the country.

- There will be programs related to women power worship in colleges.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, after Prime Minister Modi’s address broadcast from New Delhi, told the ministers present in the Secretariat, Bhopal, that as per the wishes of Prime Minister Modi, extensive activities are being conducted in the state to spread the information and spirit of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act to the people. The state government is celebrating Nari Shakti Vandan Pakhwada from 10th to 25th April. Nari Shakti Vandan conferences will be held on a large scale across the state, along with this, Nari Shakti Padyatra will also be taken out at various places. During this period, programs related to Nari Shakti Vandan will be organized at various levels in all the colleges of the state.
- It is essential to disseminate information about the Act
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that cooperation has been called for from all parties, organizations and all sections of society to spread information about the Nari Shakti Vandan Act and women empowerment to the public. For this, a letter has been written to all public representatives from the Chief Minister level. This letter is being sent to all the representatives of MPs, MLAs, urban bodies and Panchayat Raj institutions. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has also sent letters to the social organizations, voluntary organizations and other organizations of the state, requesting them to spread information about this Act which expands women’s leadership and women’s representation.
- Half the population should also get equal opportunities to take decisions on important issues and lead the country.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has written in the letter sent to the public representatives that “From April 16, 2026, a historic discussion is going to take place in the Parliament of the country regarding the full implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. This is not just a legislative process, but a historic occasion when a great yagya is being performed to make our democracy more inclusive and empowered.”
He wrote, “I firmly believe that progress of society is possible only when half the population of the country and society gets equal opportunities to take decisions on important issues and lead the country. The women power of the country has an important contribution in fulfilling the resolve of ‘Developed India’ under the leadership of the Prime Minister of the country, Shri Modi. Today, the daughters of India are flying the flag of success from the army to start-ups and from the sports field to space.”
- Madhya Pradesh has always been a model state for the country in terms of women empowerment.
“Madhya Pradesh has always been a model state for the country in terms of women’s empowerment. Our government has considered women as ‘partners’ in the state’s development. Schemes like the Ladli Behna and Ladli Laxmi Yojana have made crores of sisters and daughters economically self-reliant. Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states in the country, which has provided special opportunities to its daughters from police recruitment to teacher recruitment so that they can become a part of the state’s governance system. We have also given the command of the rural economy in the hands of our sisters by connecting them with self-help groups.”
- Direct participation of women in governance will further increase public confidence
The central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, is striving to fully implement the Nari Shakti Vandan Act across the country. It would be appropriate to hold the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and all state assembly elections after the full implementation of women’s reservation. This will also infuse new energy into all democratic institutions in Madhya Pradesh. Ensuring direct participation of women in governance will further deepen public confidence.”
- Chief Minister Dr. Yadav calls for rising above party politics and supporting the historic change
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has written that “I am also writing this letter to the public representatives so that we rise above party politics and unanimously support this historic change. This opportunity is not for any individual or party, but for the bright future of our mothers, sisters and the coming generations”.
