Mrs. Suman Lata Wakare of Gudumdevri Gram Panchayat, Marwahi Block, has today become an example of self-reliance and women’s empowerment. Once struggling with financial difficulties, Suman Lata not only strengthened her financial situation by joining a self-help group, but through hard work and the right opportunity, she has also achieved the distinction of becoming a “Lakhpati Didi.” Suman Lata is associated with the Maa Mahamaya Women’s Self-Help Group and serves as its secretary. She explained that before joining the group, her family’s financial situation was poor. Joining the self-help group proved to be a significant turning point in her life.
Through the group, she received a RF amount of ₹15,000. Subsequently, she used ₹20,000 from the ₹60,000 CIF amount to open a grocery store. While operating the shop efficiently, she expanded her business by taking a bank loan. Today, her shop has grown significantly larger than before, generating an annual income of over ₹100,000. Suman Lata’s success demonstrates that if women receive the right opportunities, financial support, and self-confidence, they can transform their families’ economic circumstances and become an inspiration to society. The self-help group not only empowered her financially but also encouraged her to stand on her own feet. Suman has also received 31 installments of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. She expressed her gratitude to the state’s Chief Minister, Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, for this support.
