Intensive inspection of food establishments in Kunkuri under the campaign ‘Right Medicine-Pure Diet’

  • 6 food samples sent to state laboratory for quality check

As part of the campaign “Right Medicine, Pure Diet – This is the Foundation of Chhattisgarh,” the Food Safety Department of Jashpur district conducted intensive inspections of food establishments during the market in the Kunkuri area. During the inspections, compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, was checked and necessary guidelines were issued to traders.

Food safety officers inspected grocery stores, seasonal fruit and vegetable vendors, sugarcane juice vendors, hotels, eateries, and other food establishments. Information was provided regarding cleanliness, sorting and destruction of expired food items, safe drinking water storage, pest control, health checks for food handlers, and food licenses.

During the inspection, six food samples were collected based on concerns about quality and adulteration and sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory for testing. These included orange squash sherbet, choco hazelnut chocolate, Amja mango juice drink, ice punch carbonated drink, Mampi packaged drinking water, and Juju Rose saffron lollipop. Upon receiving the test report, legal action will be taken against the concerned establishments.

The Food Safety Department gave guidelines regarding operation of food business to other establishments including Lit Kumar Agarwal Ghalla Dukan, Arya Sweets and Restaurant, Ramji Hotel and Breakfast Centre, Mahesh Dhaba, Kumar Kirana Store, Jain Traders located on Main Road and Bus Stand Kunkuri.

The department stated that awareness programs, food licensing camps, and workshops will soon be organized for food businesses in Kunkuri and surrounding areas. The department is continuously conducting inspections and public awareness campaigns to ensure the availability of pure, clean, safe, and quality food to the district’s residents.
