Gautam Adani, Founder and Chairman of the Adani Group, shared the Group’s future strategy on the occasion of International Labour Day. He stated that the company would now measure its progress not merely by projects or assets, but also by the impact it has on people’s lives.
Addressing the Group’s employees and partners on International Labour Day, Gautam Adani remarked that the Adani Group—which operates over 700 worksites across 24 states in the country and engages with nearly 400,000 employees, partners, and contractors—will now measure its progress not solely by the assets created, but also by the jobs generated and the communities strengthened.
He emphasized that, central to this vision of the Group, workers are placed at the very heart of nation-building.
He stated that the Adani Group’s objective is not merely to complete projects, but to expand employment opportunities and empower communities. According to the company, employees, contractors, and partners—all working in unison—contribute to the task of nation-building.
Gautam Adani said, “When we complete a project, we are not merely doing a job; we are building the future of the nation.”
He also clarified that priority would now be accorded to local residents at all project sites. Opportunities will first be extended to people from the immediate vicinity; subsequently, individuals from other parts of the state will be engaged, followed by people from other regions if the need arises.
Large-scale initiatives are being undertaken to enhance the living standards of the workforce. In Mundra and Khavda, residential accommodations equipped with air-conditioning facilities are being arranged for approximately 50,000 workers. Furthermore, a “cloud kitchen” is being established in Mundra to provide nutritious meals to nearly 100,000 people daily.
Gautam Adani remarked, “This is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Every worker has the right to live and work with dignity.” The Group is also bringing about changes in its operational methodology. To expedite decision-making, a three-tier system is being implemented. This will enable on-site decisions to be taken significantly faster than before.
Furthermore, the company is focusing on a long-term engagement model with contractors and partners, aiming to enhance both the pace and quality of work. Through this model, entrepreneurs starting at a small scale will also find opportunities to grow. In addition, these partners will be provided with financial assistance, assured returns, and opportunities for long-term collaboration.
He stated that this approach is fostering business growth at the grassroots level. Citing an example, he mentioned Hadu Versi Rabari from Kutch, Gujarat, who began his operations with a single water tanker and has today built a thriving business—equipped with a diverse fleet of machinery—that executes large-scale projects.
The third major focus of this strategy lies in learning and skill enhancement. Through the upcoming Adani Skills Centers, workers will have the opportunity to progress incrementally—moving from unskilled labor to skilled roles, then to supervisory positions, and eventually into leadership roles.
During this session, Gautam Adani highlighted the story of Subbu, who started his journey as a laborer and, through continuous learning, eventually ascended to a corporate role.
This underscores the Group’s emphasis on providing opportunities for internal career advancement. His journey not only exemplifies his personal growth but has also generated employment opportunities at the local level. The Adani Group is now placing a strong emphasis on skill development; under this initiative, workers will receive training and opportunities for advancement, enabling them to attain higher positions over time.
Linking major projects—such as Mundra Port, the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, the Navi Mumbai International Airport, and the Ganga Expressway—to the nation’s development, Adani remarked that these are not merely infrastructure assets, but rather instruments of the country’s progress.
