- Case-by-Case Review of 16 Cases Conducted; Recommendations Made for 9 Cases
A meeting of the Case Withdrawal Committee was held today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, Naya Raipur, under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Home and Jails, Shri Vijay Sharma, to discuss the withdrawal of cases related to political movements. Attendees included Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade, Agriculture Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam, Principal Secretary (Home) Ms. Niharika Barik, Principal Secretary (Law) Shri Manish Thakur, Home Secretary Smt. Neha Champawat, and DGP Shri Arun Dev Gautam, among other officials.
During the meeting, the status of 16 cases registered across various districts of the state—all linked to political movements—was discussed in detail. Out of these, which included 8 pending cases, recommendations were made for the withdrawal of 9 cases, while 2 cases were referred back to the districts for reconsideration. Additionally, the committee rejected the remaining cases after determining that they were not linked to political movements.
The committee sought information from officials regarding previously recommended pending cases, their current status, and the necessary follow-up actions in accordance with the rules. While calling for regular reviews, the committee also directed that cases pending in court be expedited. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma conducted a case-by-case review of matters related to the withdrawal of political cases and discussed with officials the process of advancing the necessary procedures in compliance with the rules.
