Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that new colleges should be started in the urban areas of the state as per the requirement of higher education. Where colleges are operating in densely populated areas , consideration should be given to introducing shift system in education as the number of students increases. On the lines of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAIC), the process of formation of State Council i.e. SAIC should be started. Employability oriented courses should be focused on. The coming year will be the youth year , in this regard preparations should also be made to implement new programs and projects for the benefit of the students along with other relevant departments. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed happiness over the efforts made to popularize the subject by ensuring the arrangement of graduate courses in agriculture in the state. He also congratulated the Higher Education Department for the success of connecting more than 20 thousand students of the region with agriculture courses.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was reviewing the work of the Higher Education Department in Mantralaya on Thursday. Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar , Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister’s Office Shri Neeraj Mandaloi , Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Shri Anupam Rajan along with senior officials were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that steps should be taken to continuously improve the quality of higher education. Concrete efforts should be made in this direction in PMShri Colleges also. Attention should be paid to the smooth running of education and other activities in all other government colleges . Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was informed about the work done towards starting new courses. It was informed in the meeting that a three-year aviation course BBA has been started in Indore , Ujjain and Chitrakoot in the state. Indian knowledge tradition cells have been established in universities and colleges. There are 384 search centers operating in the state. 83 new research centers were started last year. 100 search centers will be established in coming time. In Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER), the region has managed to grow by 1.8 percent as against India’s growth of 1.1 percent. Similarly, in the last two and a half years, National Law Institute University has got 27th rank and DAVV Indore has got 49th rank. Three other higher education institutions of the state have also been recognized for their superior systems by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that good subjects should be included in Raja Shankar Shah University of Chhindwara. The state government will provide necessary financial support for this. Special arrangements should be made for courses in food processing , architecture and agricultural science. New courses should be started according to the interest of the students.
- Major Achievements of the Department
The meeting was told that the Higher Education Department is making more and more use of Information Technology. In terms of enrollment in courses available on Swayam Portal, Madhya Pradesh has achieved the first position in the country with 3 lakh 52 thousand 931 enrollments in July 2025. In the semester of July 2026, this number has increased to 2 lakh 73 thousand 266. In the state , new universities were started at Guna , Khargaon and Sagar and law colleges at Agar Malwa. PG classes were started in 28 subjects in 8 colleges of the state. 618 higher education institutions of the state have been registered on the “One Nation-One Subscription” portal of Ministry of Education, Government of India. More than 8 lakh students and researchers of the region have used this portal. The region is first in the country in this task. 71 thousand 705 students have partnered in this morale session along with training 5 thousand faculty and staff in the field of mental health. Academic and cultural activities have been ensured by releasing the calendar in three phases from July to March. Committees of special experts for implementation of Indian Knowledge Tradition and National Education Policy 2020 were also constituted in the region. 55 government colleges in the state have been upgraded as Pradhan Mantri College and various facilities have been enhanced. Among the major innovations are the introduction of digital studios at 10 divisional headquarters. E-content is being made available through e-Gyan Setu channel which includes e-content in regional languages Bundeli , Bagheli and Malaviya along with Hindi. Launch of mobile app for e-admission and obtaining attendance information from Sarthak app. Universities have been added on Samarth software. AVGC labs are being established in 8 colleges of the state. This lab is helpful in works of animation , visual effects , gaming and comics. 68 colleges are conducting AI courses in collaboration with IIT Delhi. The process has been initiated to arrange studies in non-Hindi Indian languages. The Higher Education Department has secured the second position in the region by performing well on the IGOT Karmayogi Portal in Sadhana Week.

- Emphasis should be placed on the conduct of non-employment courses in colleges and universities.
- Part time colleges should be run. College can be run in morning and evening shift.
- As per the requirement, conduct the college in the buildings of the public schools as well.
- Counseling should also be arranged for students who have passed class 12th.
- Necessary arrangements should be made in colleges for the study of other vocational subjects including food processing , architecture and agricultural science.
