The Good Governance Festival 2026, organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, is creating new stories of self-reliance and women’s empowerment in rural areas. In this context, Durpati Sidar, a resident of Kusumjhar village in Sakti district, was honored as “Lakhpati Didi” at a public problem resolution camp. She
was presented with a certificate for her achievements at the resolution camp held in Khurghati Gram Panchayat. Her life changed significantly after joining the National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan). Struggling with financial constraints, Durpati purchased a sewing machine using the RF and CIF funds received through her self-help group and started her own business.
Seeing the growing demand, she expanded her business by taking a bank loan. Today, she earns approximately 120,000 rupees annually through sewing. Her success has made her a source of inspiration for other women in the village. Durpati Sidar says that the Bihan scheme has provided her with employment, confidence, and respect. She now plays a significant role in the family’s financial responsibilities.
