- Review of State Mineral Exploration Policy 2026 proposed by Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is a rich region in terms of natural and mineral resources. Utilization of mineral resources in a scientific , transparent and environment-friendly manner is playing an important role in giving a new impetus to the economic progress of the region. He said that the objective of mineral policies should be to increase revenue as well as expand opportunities for employment , investment and local development and the state government is ensuring this. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the departmental activities and the proposed State Mineral Exploration Policy 2026 in a meeting of the Department of Mineral Resources at the Ministry on Thursday. Chief Secretary Mr. Ashok Barnwal , Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister’s Office Mr. Neeraj Mandaloi , Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Manish Rastogi and senior officials of Mineral Resources Department were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the mineral wealth of Madhya Pradesh is an important capital for the development of the region. These natural resources should be utilized with transparency and environmental balance in such a way that the region receives revenue , encourages investment and creates employment opportunities at the local level. Chief Minister Dr. Regarding the proposed policy, Yadav said that Singrauli district, which is rich in mineral resources, should be developed as a model district in terms of education , health , women and child welfare , agriculture , forest , environment , road facilities and watershed by making proper use of the District Mineral Fund (DMF amount).
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that more and more of the profits from mineral resources should be invested in public welfare activities. Striking a balance between development and environment should work towards making Madhya Pradesh the leading state of the country in the mineral sector. Various topics related to mineral resources were discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister approved the proposed State Mineral Exploration Policy 2026 and directed to ensure effective implementation of the policy in the interest of the citizens of the region.
Principal Secretary , Mineral Resources Mr. Vivek Porwal said in the policy presentation that efforts are being made to increase revenue from mineral resources in the state through various efforts. He said that the proposed mineral policy aims to raise the revenue from mineral resources to Rs 13,720 crore by the end of the financial year 2026-27 and to Rs 30,000 crore by the end of the financial year 2030-31. He said that in the current financial year 2026-27 till the end of August 2026 the revenue income has been achieved more than (106 per cent) of the annual mineral revenue target. Ten districts of the state namely Singrauli , Anuppur , Shahdol , Katni , Balaghat , Satna , Jabalpur , Chhindwara , Umaria and Baitul have the highest mineral income. DMF funds of Rs.3147.10 crore are available in these ten districts till the end of July 2026 in the current financial year. Singrauli district contributed the most in this. This DMF fund for all 55 districts is Rs 3574.53 crore.
