Workers are benefiting from various schemes of the Unorganized Workers State Social Security Board under the Labor Department. Mantoshi Chauhan, a domestic worker from Charpara, Kohdia, Korba district, received a financial assistance of 20,000 rupees upon the birth of her first child under the Labor Department’s Unorganized Women’s Protection Scheme. She used the money received from the scheme to raise and nurture her child after delivery.

Mantoshi Chauhan is registered as a domestic worker under the Unorganized Workers State Social Security Board, and her husband is a driver. Mrs. Mantoshi said she learned about the scheme from the Labor Department. The financial assistance she received under the scheme helped her care for her child. She is also benefiting from the state government’s ambitious Mahatari Vandan Yojana. Mantoshi expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Labor Minister Lakhanlal Devangan for the financial assistance she receives under the schemes. She says that government schemes provide support to needy families during adverse circumstances and difficult times.

  • What is the Unorganized Women Saving Scheme?

This scheme is run by the Labor Department and the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Its objective is to provide financial assistance to pregnant women workers in the unorganized sector for nutrition and medical care during maternity. Under this scheme, 20,000 rupees are deposited directly into the bank account of a registered worker upon the birth of a child. Under the scheme, the woman or her husband must be a registered worker with the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Board, and their registration must be 90 days old. The applicant must be a resident of Chhattisgarh. The pregnancy must be certified by a doctor/ANM/Mitanin. Benefits under this scheme are available for the birth of a maximum of two children.
