Message of “Prosperity through Integrity” Resonates via Human Chain at Gevra, Asia’s Largest Coal Mine

  • ‘Sankalp Diwas’ (Pledge Day) Observed at SECL’s Gevra Area as Part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026; CMD Shri Harish Duhan Administers the Integrity Pledge

At the viewpoint of the Gevra coal mine—the largest in Asia—SECL officers and employees formed a human chain to express their commitment to vigilance, transparency, and integrity. This was a key highlight of ‘Sankalp Diwas,’ organized within the Gevra Area as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, through which participants conveyed the message: “Prosperity through Integrity.”

Shri Harish Duhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), served as the chief guest at the ‘Sankalp Diwas’ event, held as part of Vigilance Awareness Week—observed from October 26 to November 1—in accordance with the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi.

The event was attended by Director (Personnel) Shri Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) Shri D. Sunil Kumar (via video conferencing), Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Himanshu Jain, and General Manager of the Gevra Area Shri Ashok Kumar, alongside various heads of departments, officers, and employees.

CMD Shri Harish Duhan administered the integrity pledge to all those present. In his address, he stated, “To propagate this year’s theme—’Prosperity through Integrity’—to the masses, SECL is conducting various public awareness campaigns. Our endeavor is to leverage technology to bring greater transparency and efficiency to our operational processes.” As part of the program, a tree plantation drive was conducted under the “A Tree for Vigilance” initiative.

During Vigilance Awareness Week at SECL, various competitions for school children, public awareness campaigns, and other activities are being organized. The objective of these initiatives is to strengthen a transparent work culture through the participation of employees, students, and the general public, and to raise awareness toward building a corruption-free society.
