- Officials in contact with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy for the safe return of Dr. Meena Gupta of Ambikapur
Chhattisgarh Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal has expressed deep concern over reports of more than 288 Indian citizens going missing after the devastating floods in Nepal. Among the missing Indian citizens is Dr. Meena Gupta, daughter of senior Ambikapur leader Shri Kartaram Gupta. Dr. Meena Gupta is serving as a doctor in Britain.
Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal assured all possible cooperation for the safe return of Dr. Meena Gupta and said that her family is not alone in this difficult and worrying situation. He said that efforts are being made to remain in constant contact with the Indian Embassy in Nepal and the concerned officials regarding Dr. Meena Gupta’s status and her safe return.
Immediate contact made with the Ministry of External Affairs
Shri Agrawal said that he too immediately contacted the Ministry of External Affairs in this matter and initiated the process of sharing the necessary information. The e-mail ID provided by the Ministry has been made available to Shri Kartaram Gupta, so that all necessary details related to Dr. Meena Gupta can be conveyed to the Ministry of External Affairs and the efforts to locate her and ensure her safe return can receive the necessary information.
Minister Shri Agrawal said that the news of more than 288 Indian citizens going missing after the devastating floods in Nepal is extremely worrying and distressing. Dr. Meena Gupta ji of Ambikapur is also among them. We are continuously in contact with the Indian Embassy in Nepal and the concerned officials for her safe return. I too immediately contacted the Ministry of External Affairs and initiated the process of sharing the necessary information.
He said that in this hour of crisis, the concern and anguish of the families of each missing person can be understood. Efforts are being made through the available administrative and diplomatic channels to share the necessary information and ensure the safe return of all missing Indian citizens, including Dr. Meena Gupta.
Condolences to the affected families
Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal expressed condolences to all families affected by the natural disaster in Nepal. He said that for the families whose members are missing in this flood tragedy, this is an extremely difficult time. At such a time, compassion, cooperation and all possible assistance are the most important.
He said that in this difficult time, our sympathies are with all the affected families. I pray to God that all those trapped in the floods, including Dr. Meena Gupta ji, are safe and return to their families as soon as possible. We all hope for their safe return.
The Minister expressed hope that along with relief and rescue operations, efforts to search for the missing people would soon yield positive results and all Indian citizens, including Dr. Meena Gupta, would be able to safely return to their families.
