The rainfall situation in Chhattisgarh during this monsoon season has remained highly satisfactory. According to the rainfall report issued by the State-level Flood Control Room of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, from 1 June 2026 to 28 August 2026, the state has recorded an average of 855.9 mm of rainfall, which is 100.8 percent compared to the 10-year average of 849.3 mm. On 28 August alone, an average of 6.4 mm of rainfall was recorded across the state. The distribution of rainfall across various divisions and districts of the state has been quite diverse, with some districts receiving record-breaking rainfall while the pace of the monsoon remains slightly slow in some areas.
In the Surguja division, Balrampur district has received the most favorable monsoon conditions, with rainfall of 157.7 percent of the average, amounting to 1164.4 mm, and it also received the highest rainfall today at 29.3 mm. Other districts in the division, such as Surajpur, recorded 963.5 mm (109.6%), Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur 920.0 mm (116.7%), Korea 702.3 mm (89.9%) and Jashpur 716.9 mm (86.9%), with 16.9 mm of rainfall recorded there today. Meanwhile, Surguja district is still slightly behind in terms of rainfall, having received only 77.1 percent (504.4 mm) of the average rainfall so far.
In central Chhattisgarh, namely the Raipur and Bilaspur divisions, the monsoon is fully active. Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district has recorded the highest rainfall in the state in percentage terms at 166.0 percent, with a total of 1088.5 mm of rainfall. The figures are very strong in Raipur district, with 920.0 mm (130.7%), and Mahasamund, with 1017.9 mm (130.7%) of rainfall. Similarly, Gariaband has received 989.2 mm (120.4%), Balodabazar 898.7 mm (114.4%) and Dhamtari district 833.6 mm (101.5%) of rainfall. In the Bilaspur division, Mungeli district is leading with 896.8 mm (120.5%) and Janjgir-Champa with 1025.7 mm (114.6%) of rainfall, while Bilaspur has recorded 890.7 mm (109.2%), Sakti 846.2 mm (105.8%), Korba 953.2 mm (105.0%) and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi 831.2 mm (102.7%) of rainfall. Korba also received good rainfall of 24.1 mm today, while Raigarh district is very close to normal with 891.2 mm (99.8%) of rainfall.
The plains of the Durg division are showing a mixed impact of rainfall. Balod district has received above-normal rainfall of 844.6 mm (108.2%), while Durg district remains exactly at the normal level with 636.5 mm (100.4%). Rajnandgaon, with 698.0 mm (99.3%), and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, with 583.5 mm (95.4%), are close to the normal figures. However, the situation remains somewhat slow in Kabirdham, with 550.1 mm (85.6%), Bemetara, with 493.7 mm (78.2%), and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, with 689.3 mm (70.6%) of rainfall.
In southern Chhattisgarh, namely the Bastar division, Narayanpur district is leading the entire division with 1260.9 mm (121.3%) of rainfall, and 21.5 mm of rainfall was recorded there today as well. Dantewada district has recorded 1063.2 mm (95.4%) of rainfall, with water levels in a better condition. In Bijapur, the total rainfall figure has reached 1213.9 mm, which is 80.0 percent of the average, while Sukma has recorded 846.1 mm (72.3%), Kondagaon 758.9 mm (80.2%) and Bastar district 837.3 mm (77.8%) of rainfall. Across the state, the lowest rainfall in percentage terms has been recorded in Kanker district at 713.1 mm (65.6%), although 12.5 mm of rainfall was recorded here today, raising hopes that the situation will improve in the coming days.
