- The Food Minister said, the government’s intention is that no one sleeps hungry
Shri Govind Singh Rajput, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection of Madhya Pradesh has said that the National Food Security Act is not just a scheme for distributing food grains, but is a powerful tool for social justice to provide constitutional support to the poor, deprived and needy families to lead a dignified life. State Government Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s resolution of “Garib Kalyan” and Chief Minister Dr. Under the leadership of Mohan Yadav, it is ensuring that no deserving family of the state is deprived of the right to food and does not go hungry.
Minister Shri Rajput was addressing a two-day national workshop on “National Food Security Act 2013: Progress, Challenges and Future Directions” under the joint auspices of State Food Commission and Central Niti Aayog at Kushabhau International Convention Center in Bhopal.
- The message to the consumer is that food reaches the shop at a fair price
Minister Shri Rajput said that now every information about the ration from the distribution center to the shop and from the shop to the consumer is being made available through messages on registered mobile numbers. The objective of the government is not only to provide ration, but also to deliver its right to every eligible beneficiary on time, with complete transparency and accountability. In line with this thinking, extensive reforms have been made in the public distribution system in Madhya Pradesh, resulting in a more modern, transparent and people-centric system. He said that fair value shops in the region have been connected with the latest technology. Authentication through POS machines, e-KYC, digital ration distribution, online surveillance and real-time monitoring of the entire supply chain have enhanced both transparency and reliability in the food distribution system. This has effectively curbed irregularities and strengthened the confidence of the beneficiaries.
Minister Shri Rajput said that the dream of a developed Madhya Pradesh will be realized only when the right of every citizen to food, nutrition and social security is fully ensured. The state government is continuously working with this goal and ensuring that no eligible family is deprived of its rights under any circumstances.

Food Minister Shri Rajput called on all public representatives, officials, public service organizations and citizens to play their active role in reaching every eligible beneficiary. He said that with the joint efforts of the government and the society, the resolution of creating a hunger-free, malnutrition-free, self-sufficient and developed Madhya Pradesh will be realized. Elderly and disabled consumers in the region can nominate any person to collect food grains. As an innovation, ‘Aapka Rashan-Aapke Dwar’ scheme has been implemented. In this, ration carts go to villages and provide food grains to the consumers.
- A team of officials will study the schemes of other states
Minister Shri Rajput said that a team of officials will be sent to other states. This team will study and report on better schemes run in those states. He said that whatever important suggestions will come up in the workshop, they will be considered and implemented. Madhya Pradesh State Food Commission Secretary Mr. Shriman Shukla informed about the objectives of the workshop.
On this occasion, famous economist and former member of Niti Aayog – Prof. Rameshchandra, M.P. State Food Commission Chairman – Prof. Virendra Kumar Malhotra, Food Commissioner Mr. Bhaskar Lakshkar, Dr. Yogesh Suri, Chairman and Member Secretary of NITI Aayog and Food Commissions from various states of the country, along with officers of the Food Department were present.
