The sisters of Bihaan group are moving ahead towards turmeric cultivation
Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission “Bihaan”, the sisters of the local self-help group are moving towards farming for turmeric production. The women of the group have been provided 20 quintals of turmeric seeds by the Horticulture Department to 50 interested women of villages Renganar, Gadhmiri, Kuakonda, Halbaras, Mailawara, Gogpal and the sisters of the group have planted 40-40 kg of turmeric knots in their garden. In this way, if turmeric is produced this year, then this turmeric will also be purchased by Maa Danteshwari Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited Kuakonda next year. After purchasing, there is a plan to process this turmeric by the group and supply it to shops and wholesale grocery stores. There is a good environment for turmeric cultivation in the rural areas of the district. Initiatives are being taken by the National Rural Livelihood Mission “Bihaan” to link turmeric cultivation with the economic prosperity and livelihood of women.
