- Nava Raipur Atal Nagar: From Achievements to New Heights

Chhattisgarh’s modern and planned capital, Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar, is today one of the country’s fastest-growing smart cities. Remarkable progress in diverse sectors such as well-organized infrastructure, green development, education, health, IT, tourism, and women’s empowerment has made Nawa Raipur an ideal urban model for future India. It is not just an administrative capital, but an emerging hub of investment, innovation, and inclusive growth.
- Major achievements in smart infrastructure and urban services
A 52 MLD pipeline and a state-of-the-art water treatment plant in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar ensure long-term drinking water supply throughout the city. This will meet the needs of the existing population as well as the newly developing sectors.
To promote rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge, 10.66 kilometers of bioswales, recharge pits, and natural drainage systems have been developed. These initiatives have not only strengthened water conservation but also the city’s ecological balance.
- Transportation and connectivity get a new dimension
The extension of Raipur-Rajim rail service to CBD station of Naya Raipur is giving new impetus to the connectivity of the city.
The Pink E-Rickshaw service has been launched to promote safe mobility and self-employment for women. Furthermore, the charging infrastructure required for e-bus operations has been completed, and the service is in the final stages of launch. This initiative is a significant step towards green and sustainable urban transportation.
- Educity is developing in the field of education
13 cooperative schools of Nava Raipur have been upgraded and two higher secondary schools have been developed as smart schools.
EduCity is being developed on approximately 200 acres, where land has been allotted to national-level institutions such as the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Narsee Monjee. Additionally, a residential school is proposed to be established on 17 acres of land in Sector 7.
- Medicity: The new hub of healthcare services
To promote medical tourism, a world-class Medicity is being developed on approximately 500 acres. It will include a super-specialty hospital, medical college, nursing college, diagnostic center, dharamshala, hotels, and residential facilities.
Under this project, land has been allotted to Bombay Hospital for a 300-bed super-specialty hospital. Additionally, approximately 50 acres of land has been allocated to private investors for residential development, with an investment potential of approximately ₹350 crore.
- Women Empowerment and Labour Welfare
A 1,000-capacity Working Women’s Hostel is being constructed for working women at a cost of ₹109 crore. This project will strengthen women’s safety, convenience, and self-reliance.
Additionally, a fully equipped labour housing building with a capacity of 1,100 for migrant workers is being constructed at a cost of ₹40 crore.
Emergence as a tourism, culture and MICE destination
Sevagram has been allotted 77 acres of land in Nava Raipur and 40 acres of land has been allotted to Art of Living Foundation in Sector-39, where large centres of cultural and community activities are being developed.
A convention center-cum-sports city is being developed through private investment on approximately 120 acres in Sectors 4 and 10. The approximately ₹800 crore project will include a world-class convention center and sports facilities such as tennis, swimming, wrestling, archery, and squash.
- Emerging hub of semiconductors, electronics and IT
The state’s first SEZ-based AI data centre park is being set up in Naya Raipur, with private investment of around Rs 4,000 crore expected.
Land has also been allocated to establish India’s first GaN technology-based semiconductor plant. Approval has also been received from the Indian government for an Electronics Common Facility Center (CFC), which will house modern facilities such as PCB prototyping, 3D printing, and EMC testing.
Furnished office spaces have been made available to IT companies on a plug-and-play model in the CBD area. Around 1,000 youth are currently employed, and there is potential to create an additional 2,000 jobs.
- Sustainable Development and Green Initiatives
More than 1 lakh trees have been planted under the “People for People” campaign, which has helped in preserving and expanding 26 per cent of the city’s green cover.
Measures like bioswales, recharge systems and green corridors are establishing Naya Raipur as an eco-friendly and water-sensitive city.
- The Authority’s future action plan
The Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran is working on several ambitious projects to make the city more modern and investment-attractive in the coming years:
Infrastructure development at a cost of Rs 800 crore on approximately 1,100 acres in Serikhedi and Mandirhasaud areas.
Formation of a special authority for the integrated development of the State Capital Region (SCR).
Expansion of Medicity in 500 acres and Educity in 200 acres.
To establish Naya Raipur as an IT, ITeS and AI hub.
Increasing the annual capital expenditure capacity to Rs 1,000 crore.
Encouraging private investment in wellness centres, wedding destinations, MICE capital and tourism projects.
Modern infrastructure development in the affected Gram Panchayats on the basis of Village Development Plan.
Technological upgradation of Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC).
Operation of 40 new e-buses to strengthen public transport.
- New capital, identity of new India
Today, Naya Raipur Atal Nagar has become a powerful example of planned development, modern amenities, and sustainable urbanization. Continuous progress in the areas of education, health, technology, tourism, and green development is not only establishing it as a new identity for Chhattisgarh but also as an inspiring model for the entire country.
In the coming years, Naya Raipur Atal Nagar will definitely take the lead among the most modern, investment-friendly and quality-of-life cities in India.
