- Anganwadi Centre of Pipalavand Maripara becomes a shining example of quality, innovation and community participation
The Maripara Anganwadi Centre in Piplawand Gram Panchayat, Bastar district, has set an inspiring example towards strengthening early childhood education in Chhattisgarh. Built through the coordinated efforts of MNREGA and various departments, this modern Anganwadi Centre is no longer just a centre for child nutrition and care, but also an attractive, safe, and innovative medium for early childhood education. Previously operating in a dilapidated building, children faced difficulties in their studies and activities. Following the initiative of the Gram Panchayat, approval for a new building was obtained through the Bastar Janpad Panchayat. The building was constructed in 2024-25 at a total cost of ₹11.69 lakh, with ₹8 lakh from MNREGA, ₹2 lakh from the Women and Child Development Department, and ₹1.69 lakh from the Gaud Mineral Fund.
The exterior of the new building inspires children to learn. The walls of the building are engraved with Hindi alphabets, English letters, attractive pictures, alphabet trees, and educational murals, fostering children’s interest in learning through play. A learning-friendly environment has been created within the Anganwadi. Several interactive learning materials have been provided, including an illustrated Hindi alphabet, an English alphabet, a number table from 1 to 100, and a special growth tree for measuring children’s height. Currently, 22 children are registered at the center, enthusiastically taking advantage of the education and nutrition services daily. This Anganwadi center is also an excellent example of community participation. Anganwadi workers provide activity-based education to children, and the local community actively contributes to the center’s operation and maintenance.
