Archers from South East Central Railway (SECR) delivered an excellent performance at the 16th All India Railway Archery (Men & Women) Championship 2026-27, held in Chittaranjan, West Bengal, from 07 to 09 September 2026, clinching a total of 5 medals—2 gold and 3 bronze. With this impressive showing, SECR secured the third position in the medal tally among 13 participating railway zones.
A total of 10 players represented SECR in the championship, comprising 6 Recurve archers (3 men and 3 women) and 4 Compound archers (1 man and 3 women).
In the Women’s Recurve Team event, the trio of Madhavi Chauhan, Madhu Vedwan, and Vitasa Thakur performed brilliantly, winning the final match with a score of 5-3 set points to claim the gold medal. Meanwhile, in the Mixed Recurve Team event, the pair of Madhavi Chauhan and Pawan also secured gold by winning their final match with a score of 5-3 set points.
SECR players also won three bronze medals. Madhavi Chauhan won bronze in the Women’s Individual Recurve 70m Overall event by scoring 640 points. In the Women’s Individual Olympic Round, Vitasa Thakur secured the bronze medal with a 6-4 set-point victory. In the Men’s Recurve Team event, the team comprising Pawan, Jaskirat Sekhon, and Shivnath Nageshia won the bronze medal by achieving a commanding 6-0 victory in the bronze medal match.
This performance by the SECR archers reflects their consistent excellence, hard work, and sporting talent in this prestigious railway-level competition. Securing the third position with 2 gold and 3 bronze medals is a proud achievement for South East Central Railway.
